Using M2 steel instead of alloy steel to make rolling wheels has many advantages, but grinding cracks are prone to occur. The solutions are as follows:

1) Reduce the quenching heating temperature. When using ultrasonic induction heating equipment for quenching heat treatment, the temperature is reduced from the original 1220-1225℃ to 1200-1205℃, and the heating time is extended by 50%.

2) Isothermal quenching. The original graded quenching is not appropriate and should be changed to 260-280℃x2h isothermal quenching.

3) Increase the number of tempering times. The first tempering temperature is 580℃, which can make the hardness of the rolling wheel not less than 62HRC. If it exceeds 63HRC, the second tempering temperature should be increased to 590-595℃, so that the final hardness is 60-63HRC.

The workpiece is affected by many factors during the heat treatment process, and some defects will inevitably occur. Therefore, it is very important to master the preventive measures for defects. After many manufacturers adopted them, they not only solved the problem of grinding cracks in the rolling wheels, but also increased their service life by 3-4 times.
