4341 steel is a low-alloy high-speed steel. Since it was put on the market in the 1990s, it has firmly occupied a place in the twist drill, tap, machine saw blade and other industries. Its turning tool products also have a broad market. In order to better meet the working requirements of 4341 steel turning tools, we usually use high-frequency induction heating power to heat treat them, with good results. Even if the grain size reaches No. 8, it will not necessarily overheat. The working conditions of turning tools are relatively harsh when they are in service, often dry cutting and heavy cutting, so turning tools can only be used if they are overheated.

The preheating of the 4341 steel turning tool is still carried out as usual. First, a high-frequency induction heating power supply is used for preheating heat treatment. The preheating time is twice the heating time. Then conduct heating heat treatment at 1190-1200°C, and control the grain size to No. 8.5-8. The ones that are not easily deformed are cooled in stages; the ones that are easy to deform are classified isothermally, that is, after grading at 600°C, they are then isothermally heated in nitrate salt at 260-280°C for 1 hour.

Curved turning tools must be cold calibrated before tempering, and straight tempering should be used. Those with a cross section below 8mmx8mm are only allowed to have overheating levels 1-2, and those with a cross section above 8mmx8mm are only allowed to have overheating levels 3-4. The straightness is accepted according to regulations, and the hardness is ≥64HRC as qualified.
