We studied the relationship between the power frequency and the heating electrical efficiency of steel pipes with different wall thicknesses when a 140mm diameter steel pipe is heated above the Curie point. The study shows that as the heating power frequency increases from 20KHz to 40KHz, the steel pipe heating electrical efficiency increases in sequence. Continuing to increase the power frequency, the electrical efficiency remains unchanged. It can be seen that when large-diameter steel pipes are heated above the Curie point, the reasonable power supply frequency should be 20-50KHz, and the heating electrical efficiency is about 80% at this time. Excessively high power frequency is suitable for small diameter (diameter less than 100mm) steel pipes. The relationship between the power supply frequency and the thickness of the steel pipe wall. Thin-walled steel pipes should use higher-frequency power supplies, while thick-walled steel pipes should use lower-frequency power supplies. This can achieve high heating efficiency.

The reasons for choosing a lower frequency power supply for steel pipe induction heating are: first, the surface power density used for steel pipe induction heating is small and the heating rate is slow, which can reduce the deformation of the steel pipe caused by temperature stress; second, the thickness of the steel pipe wall is only 4-20mm. Easier to penetrate heat.
