The working environment of machine tool spindles is very harsh. In order to meet the needs of the work, many manufacturers use ultrasonic induction annealing equipment for heat treatment, with good results. Today, we will not talk about the heat treatment process of the machine tool spindle. Let’s talk about the preparatory heat treatment that can be performed on the machine tool spindle using ultrasonic induction annealing equipment.
Preparatory heat treatment of machine tool spindle mainly includes annealing, normalizing and quenching and tempering.
(1) Annealing or normalizing. All forged blanks need to be annealed and normalized before machining to reduce the hardness of the spindle blank, improve the machinability, eliminate forging stress, refine the grains and eliminate structural inhomogeneity.
(2) Conditioning and tempering. The purpose of quenching and tempering is to improve the comprehensive mechanical properties of the spindle, obtain uniform tempered sorbite, and prepare the structure for surface hardening, so that the center of the spindle can obtain high strength and toughness, and the surface layer can obtain high hardness. There is a good hardness gradient to avoid stress concentration and reduce heat treatment distortion.
This article briefly introduces the preparatory heat treatment that can be performed on the machine tool spindle using ultrasonic induction annealing equipment. I hope it will be helpful to your work.
