(1) The relationship between the tension value and the tempering temperature is inversely proportional to the tension applied by the steel wire and the tempering temperature. When using medium frequency induction heating power supply for tempering heat treatment, the tempering temperature is high, the selected tension is small, and the tempering temperature is low, the selected tension is large. The relationship between tempering temperature and tension is controlled by the elongation or plastic deformation of the steel wire.

(2) The relationship between the tension value and the diameter reduction rate of the finished steel wire is directly proportional to the tempering tension applied to the steel wire and the diameter reduction rate of the finished steel wire. The greater the diameter reduction rate, the greater the stress exerted. Usually the diameter reduction rate of the finished steel wire is controlled at 0.5%-0.7%.

The tempering tension value is selected based on the above principles. The tension value is usually taken as 35%-48% of the tensile strength of untreated steel wire at room temperature, which is equivalent to the stress at an elongation of 1%-1.5%.
