The steel is heat treated using a medium-frequency induction heating machine, and its oxidation phenomenon is much lighter than that of traditional equipment.

When steel is heat treated, an important issue that people are generally concerned about is the oxidation phenomenon of steel. Many people say that the oxidation phenomenon is much lighter when a medium frequency induction heating machine is used for heat treatment. So is this true? Don't worry, let's take a look at the description below.

The following table gives the oxidation weight gain test results of different heating methods at different temperatures. From the test data in the table, we can see the following.

(1) The temperature at which carbon steel and low alloy steel begin to undergo significant oxidation when heat treated with a medium frequency induction heating machine is 900°C, while the significant oxidation temperature of traditional heating is 800°C. Therefore, the oxidation of induction heated steel mainly occurs in the normalizing, solution and quenching treatment processes. The oxidation phenomenon during the tempering process is extremely slight.

(2) The oxidation gain of traditional heating at a temperature above 800°C is 5-20 times higher than that of induction heating. The loss of steel quality due to oxidation is less than 0.2% for induction heating, compared to about 1.0% for conventional heating. From the above description, we can see that the oxidation phenomenon of workpiece induction heating is indeed much lower than that of traditional heating. Therefore, the use of medium frequency induction heating machines to heat treat steel has become a trend, and we should vigorously promote it.
