When steel-inlaid guide rails are quenched and heat treated using an ultrasonic induction quenching machine, distortion defects may occur due to the influence of various factors. This defect will reduce the wear resistance and life of the steel-inlaid guide rail. Therefore, prevention and reduction of guide rail distortion must be considered during the entire heat treatment and machining process.
The countermeasures to reduce the heat treatment distortion of steel-inlaid guide rails are as follows:
1. Prepare for heat treatment, such as normalizing, spheroidizing annealing, quenching and tempering, and stress relief treatment of guide rail materials.
2. Since there are usually not many reasonable part structures (uniform cross-section, symmetrical structure), in order to reduce the quenching distortion of the parts, sometimes two parts with uneven cross-sections can be combined into one part with symmetrical cross-section for quenching.
3. Use PAG water-based quenching cooling medium instead of water as the quenching cooling medium for steel-inlaid guide rails.
4. Because the upper part of the trapezoidal guide rail is thin and cools quickly during quenching, warping distortion often occurs. However, if the thicker wall surface is quenched into water at a slight angle during quenching, the thicker wall surface can be cooled. The speed is accelerated, so that the cooling speed of the entire guide rail is relatively uniform, which can effectively reduce the distortion of the guide rail.
5. First assemble (fix) the guide rail on the machine tool, and then use a super audio induction quenching machine for induction quenching.
6. In order to ensure the accuracy of the guide rail, multiple aging treatments should be performed to fully eliminate residual stress.
This article briefly introduces the measures to reduce the heat treatment distortion of steel-inlaid guide rails. I hope you can apply these to actual production.
