Speaking of wheels, we are all familiar with them. The materials used for integral rolled steel wheels are 55 steel and 60 steel. The wheels have to withstand huge friction during work, so motorcycle wheels need to be tempered. The rolled wheels are first annealed and then tempered. Considering the large size of the wheels, they must be heated slowly and fully. The holding time should ensure thorough heating and avoid internal and external temperature inconsistencies as much as possible. For the annealing and quenching and tempering heat treatment of locomotive wheels, we often use intermediate frequency heating furnaces. Today, we will take a look at the intermediate frequency heat treatment process.
The heat treatment process of 55 steel and 60 steel is as follows:
(1) Preparatory heat treatment - the annealing treatment is carried out in a medium frequency heating furnace. The Ac3 temperature of 55 steel is 774℃, the Ac3 temperature of 60 steel is 766℃, and the complete annealing process is (770~820)℃×(5~8) h. The furnace is cooled to below 300℃ and air-cooled out of the furnace. The hardness requirement is ≤229HB.
(2) Final heat treatment - tempering treatment Heating in the intermediate frequency heating furnace, the quenching temperature is 820-850 ℃, the cooling medium is 5%-10% salt water or tap water, etc., and the hardness after quenching is above 53HRC. The temperature of high-temperature tempering is 550~600℃, the hardness of tempering is above 21HRC, and the tensile strength is above 750MPa.
Well, this article briefly introduces the annealing and quenching and tempering heat treatment processes of motorcycle wheels. I hope it will be helpful to your work. The editor hopes that everyone can apply the knowledge they have learned to work, discover and solve problems in the application. Of course, you can also read more books in this area to increase your knowledge.
