After the gear is surface quenched by the medium frequency induction heating power supply, the size will change. In severe cases, the gear will be scrapped and directly affect the quality of the product. Therefore, it is very important to master some measures to reduce distortion and has very practical significance.
General measures to reduce gear surface quenching distortion are shown in the following table:
Measure | Process method |
Eliminate internal stress in the blank and refine the structure | Blank normalizing, especially isothermal normalizing effect is remarkable. |
Lower quenching temperature | Quenching and tempering before quenching to obtain a uniform and fine sorbite structure |
Short heating time | Quench and temper before quenching; the distance between the inductor and the heated tooth surface should not be too large; preheat before quenching |
Even heating | The machine tool spindle deflection should be small; the sensor shape should be uniform and symmetrical; the gear rotates when the ferrule is heated. |
Gentle cooling | Use a suitable proportion of quenching cooling medium. Try not to use tap water, but use various polymer aqueous solutions. |
Increase the strength of the gear body | Reasonable arrangement of processing procedures, such as arranging certain grooves and lightening holes to be processed after quenching; reasonable structural design |
Eliminate machining stress | Preheat at 600-650℃ before surface quenching |
