We have used high-frequency induction heating machines and ultrasonic induction heating equipment to conduct induction hardening experiments on the same small module gears. The results are as follows:

On a 250kHz high-frequency induction heating power supply, when heating m=1.5-2.25mm gears, the tooth groove and tooth top heating speeds are basically the same; when heating m=2.5mm gears, the tooth groove heating speed is lower than the tooth top; when heating m=3mm Gears - generally there is no hardened layer in the tooth grooves. m=2.5mm, m.=3.Omm, m=3.75mm. After the gears are induction quenched by 10kHz ultrasonic induction annealing power supply, the depth of the gear groove hardening layer (measured at 50% martensite) is 2.48mm, respectively. 2.0-3.Omm, 1.35-3.1mm.

After many tests, we concluded that compared with high-frequency induction quenching, super audio frequency induction quenching has slightly greater gear inner hole deformation, quenching cracking tendency, and energy consumption, but the tooth shape changes (directly related to noise) are reduced, and the strength increase.

Therefore, when we perform induction quenching on gears, we should select matching equipment according to the specifications of the gears. Improper equipment selection will not only reduce the service life of the equipment, but also affect the quenching quality of the workpiece.
