During the continuous production process of steel induction heating rapid heat treatment, the heating is temporarily stopped for some reason, and when it is necessary to start quickly and heat up quickly afterwards, the power supply is required to have the performance of quick start and rapid heating. Different forms of power supply have different starting and heating temperatures.
1) The starting method of series inverter power supply is fast. After the rectified DC voltage is applied to the inverter circuit, the power supply can be started and heated by itself. This kind of power supply is suitable for use under conditions with stable voltage properties, frequent starts, and high frequency of use. This power supply is used when processing steel with stable specifications, continuous heating, and low output.
2) It is difficult to start a parallel inverter power supply. Due to the hungry characteristics of the power circuit itself, it is difficult to start, and an additional starting circuit must be used to achieve starting. Therefore, it is not suitable for working under conditions of rapid and frequent starts. The usual parallel inverter power supply is suitable for large steel continuous heat treatment production lines with few starts, such as the power supply for large-diameter steel pipe quenching and tempering production lines.
3) Rapid heating performance of the power supply. Rapid heating is a beneficial measure to save energy consumption in heat treatment and is also one of the important conditions for achieving rapid heat treatment. For this reason, the output voltage of the induction heating power supply is required to be too high, and the output current should be increased as much as possible. The load circuit uses low voltage and high current heating is the basic condition for rapid heating. This facilitates the parallel inverter power supply to have greater advantages than the series inverter power supply.
