Methods and selection of induction quenching of workpieces using induction heating equipment

Induction heating equipment is widely used in auto parts, tractor parts, motorcycle parts, machinery manufacturing and other industries, and can heat parts of different specifications and types. Due to the different shapes of the heated parts, the parts we quench are different and the parts of the quenching area are also different, so a variety of suitable processes need to be used for the operation. Today, we will briefly talk about the common heating methods for induction quenching of workpieces using induction heating equipment and how to choose them.

(1) Induction heating equipment performs scanning quenching on the workpiece. Often referred to as continuous quenching. This method only heats a part of the area to be quenched at the same time, and gradually moves the heating area to the cooling position through the relative movement between the inductor and the heated parts. Scanning quenching can also be divided into two types: non-rotating parts (such as machine tool guide rail quenching) and rotating (such as cylindrical long axis). In addition, there is scanning circumferential quenching, such as the outer circle contour quenching of a large cam; scanning plane quenching, such as the surface quenching of a flat circular file plate, also belongs to the category of scanning quenching. Scanning quenching is suitable for situations where a large surface area needs to be heated and the power of the power supply device is insufficient. Mass production experience shows that the simultaneous heating method has higher parts productivity than the scanning quenching method under the same power supply, and the area occupied by the quenching equipment is correspondingly reduced. For shaft parts with steps, during scanning and quenching, due to the offset of the electromagnetic field of the inductor at the step from large diameter to small diameter, there is often a transition zone that is insufficiently heated, making the entire length of the hardened shaft discontinuous. . Nowadays, longitudinal current simultaneous heating has been widely used in China to maintain the continuous hardened layer of the stepped shaft over the entire length, thereby improving the torsional strength of the shaft.

(2) Induction heating annealing equipment performs simultaneous heating and quenching of the workpiece. The entire hardening zone is heated at the same time, and then cooled at the same time after stopping the heating. During the heating process, the relative position of the part and the sensor does not change. At the same time, the heating method can be divided into rotating or non-rotating parts in application. The cooling conditions (see the cooling conditions for quenching of induction heating equipment for steel) are diverse, and the cooling methods can be divided into falling water sprayers. There are two types of medium or sensor spray. From the perspective of improving the generator utilization coefficient (except for one generator supplying multiple quenching machines), the heated parts are dropped into the water sprayer at the same time. The productivity and generator utilization coefficient are both higher than the inductor spray method.

Zhengzhou Gou's has been engaged in the production and sales of induction heating equipment for nearly 20 years, and has richer theoretical knowledge and practical experience than other manufacturers.
