Gears made of low carbon structural steel and low carbon alloy structural steel that have been carburized or carbonitrided. The depth of the hardened layer of this type of gear can be selected according to (0.2~0.4) m (modulus); the surface layer structure is fine needle-like martensite. After quenching, it is tempered at low temperature to adjust the tooth surface hardness to the technical requirements of the product.
For surface quenching of gears, high-frequency induction heating quenching can be used. Depending on the gear module and gear size, generally high-frequency induction heating machines can perform full-gear penetration quenching on gears with module module 4 or below. Gears with module module 5 or above can also be quenched on a single tooth due to the height and width of the tooth profile (can be along the Tooth quenching or inter-tooth quenching); liquid spray (mainly water) cooling or immersion cooling can be used. The gear rotates during full-tooth quenching, and does not rotate during single-tooth quenching. After each tooth is quenched, one tooth is rotated until all teeth are quenched. Surface quenching of gears is generally performed after rough machining or semi-finishing.。
