Heat treatment process for tempering camshaft using medium frequency induction heating machine

Anyone who knows about heat treatment knows that the workpiece will generate residual stress after quenching, and we need to perform tempering heat treatment. Tempering is a metal heat treatment process in which the quenched workpiece is reheated to an appropriate temperature below the lower critical temperature, kept warm for a period of time, and then cooled in air, water, oil and other media. Camshafts are commonly used parts in automobiles. We usually use medium frequency induction heating machines for quenching and tempering heat treatment. Today, the editor will focus on the induction tempering heat treatment process of camshafts.

Tempering of camshaft after quenching. Proper tempering process is another important factor in reducing the internal stress of the workpiece and avoiding quenching cracking. The cam often has insufficient self-tempering temperature, and the tip of the cam will be partially collapsed before and after the next process. First, adjust the process: the intermediate frequency quenching process should be set to heat one part of the quenched camshaft, and the next part should be located below the quenched part. This ensures that the quenched part does not need to be cooled a second time and has reliable self-tempering temperature and time. In this way, the use of medium frequency induction heating equipment for tempering can reduce the internal stress immediately and reduce the possibility of cracking of the parts. It can also avoid increasing the probability of cracking due to cold penetration of the workpiece. After straightening, temper at 180°C for 3 hours, which can reduce the stress caused by straightening and stabilize the cam shape after straightening. After batch trial production, there was no cracking in the camshaft.

Tempering is an important process of heat treatment, and its process has a great impact on the heat treatment quality of the workpiece. Zhengzhou Gou's has conducted quenching and tempering tests on many workpieces and is quite experienced in the tempering process of workpieces.
