Heat treatment process for gear hob quenching using medium frequency induction heating machine

The gear hob is an important gear cutting tool. From its name, we can tell that it is mainly a cutting tool and needs to withstand huge friction during the working process. In order to meet the needs of their work, many gear hob manufacturers use intermediate frequency induction heating machines to perform some heat treatment on them. Today, Zhengzhou Gou's technicians will tell you about the intermediate frequency heat treatment process for gear hobs.

Gear hobs are generally made of general-purpose high-speed steel, with a hardness requirement of 64-66.5HRC, and there are also requirements for carbide unevenness, preferably ≤3 grades. The heat treatment process of gear hobs made of M2 steel is as follows:

1) Preheat. Use a special quenching fixture and use a medium frequency induction heating machine for preheating heat treatment. The preheating time is twice the heating time and the heating temperature is 850-870°C.

2) Heating. The gear hob is heated and heat-treated by a medium-frequency induction heating machine. The heating temperature is 122-1235°C, and the heating time is shown in Table 2-103. The crystallinity is controlled at 9.5-10 grades, and 1-2 grades of overheating are allowed.

3) Cool down. After heating at high temperature, pre-cool in the air for a few seconds and then quench. Gear hobs with module <5 are quenched and heat treated using a medium-frequency induction heating machine. The temperature is divided into two grades: 580-620℃ and 450℃.

4) Tempering. Its tempering heat treatment can also be carried out on a medium frequency induction heating machine, 550 ℃ x lh x 4 times of tempering, and austempering requires 4 times of tempering.
