GM (9Cr6W3M02V2) steel rolling wheel low temperature annealing and quenching

GM steel has better ability to resist crack expansion, and its wear resistance and strength and toughness are better matched. Its toughness and strength are better than Cr12 steel and high-speed steel, making it an ideal material for manufacturing rolling wheels. If quenched at 1130~1160℃ and tempered at 530-55WC, it is suitable for hobbing materials above 35HRC. If the hardness of the material to be processed is below 30HRC, low-temperature annealing and quenching will achieve good results. The heat treatment process is introduced as follows.

1) 600℃ x lmin/mm +850℃ x 1min/mm twice salt bath preheating.

2) 1070℃ x0.5min/mm salt bath heating.

3) Oil quenching, hardness after quenching is 62 - 63HRC.

4) After oil tempering at 150℃ x2h x2 times, the hardness is still 62 -63HRC.

Since the quenching temperature is about 80°C lower than conventional, the austenite grains are very fine, further improving the strength and wear resistance of the steel.

When processing 45 steel and Q235 screws, the service life of the thread rolling wheel treated with low quenching annealing and quenching is about 2 times longer than that of the 9SiCr, Cr12MoV, and M2 steel thread rolling wheel.
