The cam plate is an important part of the vane pump stator. It determines the shape and accuracy of the stator curve. The material is 40Cr steel. The workpiece processing flow is: forging-machining-quenching and tempering-finishing-nitriding heating quenching-dressing. The original heat treatment process uses nitriding and quenching, and the hardness after quenching is required to be 52-57HRC. However, it was found during production that the cam plate always produced deformation defects. After analyzing the causes, it was found that using a high-frequency induction heating machine for heating and quenching heat treatment has good results and can meet production needs.

During the nitriding heating and quenching production, it was found that due to the uneven effective heating size (and holes) of each part of the part, uneven heating resulted in large deformation after quenching, reaching about 0.1mm, and uneven hardness after quenching, and even appeared Cracking phenomenon. As a result, it is more difficult to trim the cam curve after quenching (deformation). Severe deformation or cracking often results in product failure and scrapping, resulting in large economic losses.

A high-frequency induction heating machine is used to heat and quench the cam plate. The inductor is generally a profiling inductor made according to the specifications of the cam plate. The heating temperature is usually 900°C. After heating, the camshaft is subjected to a water spray cooling process. The inspection found that the error of the cam plate was less than 0.1mm, which met the technical requirements, changed the deformation and uneven hardness caused by nitriding heating and quenching, greatly reduced the scrap rate of workpieces, and improved economic benefits.

After using a high-frequency induction heating machine for heating and quenching heat treatment, the deformation of the cam plate is within the allowable range, reaching the technical requirements, meeting the production requirements, improving productivity and product quality, and the product qualification rate reaches more than 96%. At the same time, The labor intensity of workers is reduced, and the production cost of products is greatly reduced.
