After the machine tool parts are normalized by the medium frequency induction annealing machine, what are the commonly used cooling methods?

Machine tool parts are normalized and heat treated using a medium frequency induction annealing machine. There are many factors that affect the heat treatment effect, such as normalizing temperature, operating process, cooling method after normalizing, etc. Today, we will not talk about how these factors affect the normalizing effect. Let us talk about the commonly used cooling methods after normalizing.

Commonly used cooling methods after normalizing machine tool parts:

1. After the normalized parts come out of the oven, they should generally be spread out and cooled in the naturally circulating air. They are not allowed to be stacked for cooling or placed on the wet ground for cooling.

For large parts, hypereutectoid steel parts and castings or parts requiring high hardness, air cooling, spray cooling or cooling in other media can be used according to process requirements.

2. After the normalizing parts to eliminate carbide nets are released from the furnace, they are allowed to cool in oil to about 700°C and then transferred to air for cooling.

3. For parts with strict distortion requirements, after heating and insulation, they can be cooled to around Ar1 in still air, and then transferred to the furnace for slow cooling, that is, the two-stage normalizing method is used.

This article briefly introduces the commonly used cooling methods after normalizing machine tool parts. I hope it will be helpful to your heat treatment work.
