Why use induction to heat bolts
Bolt expansion using induction heating in high-pressure turbines, where precise localized heating is faster and safer than resistive and flame heating. Expansion bolts with induction are a proven, time-saving and labor-saving alternative to inefficient flame and resistance heating. Through induction, a specially designed coil is inserted into the bolt. Rapid, precisely controlled and localized heat is then generated directly in the bolt. The heat expands the bolt a precise, predetermined length, making it easy to remove the nut.
What are the advantages of bolt induction heating?
Inductive heat transfer is very accurate. Since heat is generated inside the part, you can only heat the part you want to heat, so the thread of the bolt with the nut stays cold during the heating operation. The heating process is so fast that there is simply not enough time for the heat to get into the threaded area. Of course, with induction, there is no risk of the rod melting inside the bolt - a common and time-consuming problem with alternative heating methods.
The new high-frequency induction heating machine produced by Zhengzhou Gou's Electromagnetic Induction Heating Equipment Co., Ltd. has a better solution for bolt expansion around a small but powerful mobile converter and a specially designed inductance coil, and also provides a "twin" version , where one converter is connected to two separate hand-held transformers. This means that an operator can handle two bolts at the same time - effectively achieving the productivity of two operators. Alternatively, two operators can work simultaneously, each with its own independent transformer. Quick release coils also increase operator productivity. It only takes a few seconds to connect coils of different sizes and shapes to the handheld transformer. During bolt expansion, attention to safety is critical to achieving consistent results and avoiding damage to personnel or the bolt itself. All flashovers from the coil to the workpiece must be avoided because the high-energy current can weaken the metal structure within the bolt. Fiberglass insulating holsters, varnish and electronic coils for workpiece detection provide triple safety in the event of a flashover.
Where is bolt induction heating used?
Induction heating for bolt expansion is used in high-pressure turbines in power plants, chemical plants, and oil and gas processing plants.
