As a common part on automobiles, ball thrust rods need to withstand huge friction during work. For this reason, we usually use ultrasonic induction heating equipment to quench and heat treat ball thrust rods. Although it is convenient to use ultrasonic induction heating equipment to quench the ball-head thrust rod, there are still certain technical difficulties in the induction heat treatment. Today, the technical staff of Zhengzhou Gou's will tell you about the technical difficulties of induction heat treatment of ball head thrust rods.
The ball-head thrust rod is a typical complex variable-section part. There are certain technical difficulties in induction heat treatment of variable-section parts. Mainly reflected in the following two aspects:
First of all, due to the existence of the cross-section change part - the step, the technical difficulty of induction heating of ultrasonic induction heating equipment increases. For the induced magnetic field, the step part forms a magnetic shield, and it is difficult for the magnetic field to enter the root of the step, which will inevitably cause uneven heating temperature. Solving the root heating problem is the key to induction heat treatment of variable cross-section parts.
Secondly, there is a notch effect on the structure at the mutation position of the cross section, which is a structural stress concentration point. A heat treatment process is required to form surface residual compressive stress there to make up for the lack of structural strength in the shape. As mentioned above, it is very difficult to conduct induction heating with ultrasonic induction heating equipment at the step root. Insufficient heating can easily cause the quenching and hardening zone to be disconnected there, forming a large heat treatment stress (tensile stress), which will inevitably be superimposed with the structural stress. Causes the structural strength of the parts to drop sharply. Therefore, in order to improve the structural strength of parts, it is necessary to obtain a continuous and uniform quenching and hardening layer on all parts of the parts, forming a large surface residual compressive stress in dangerous sections.
This article briefly analyzes the difficulty of induction heat treatment of ball-head thrust rods, but don’t worry, we have now developed a way to solve this problem. As a leader in the induction heating industry, Zhengzhou Gou's has a good understanding of the heat treatment of various workpieces.
