We can prevent deformation defects caused by quenching workpieces using high-frequency induction quenching machine

When the workpiece is induction hardened using a high-frequency induction hardening machine, it is affected by many factors and will produce quenching defects. Among the many defects, the most feared is the deformation of the workpiece. Today, the editor will tell you how to prevent quenching deformation defects in workpieces?

The reasons for the quenching deformation of the workpiece are often complicated, but as long as we understand the law of deformation, analyze the causes, and use different methods to prevent it, the quenching deformation of the workpiece can be reduced and controlled. Generally speaking, the following methods can be used to prevent heat treatment deformation of precision and complex workpieces.

1. Reasonable material selection. For precision and complex tools, micro-deformation mold steel (such as air-hardened steel) with good material should be selected. Mold steel with severe carbide segregation should be reasonably forged and subjected to quenching and tempering heat treatment. Mold steel that is larger and cannot be forged can be solidified. Solvent double refinement heat treatment.

2. Precision and complex workpieces must be preheated with a high-frequency induction heating machine to eliminate residual stress generated during machining.

3. Reasonably select the heating temperature and control the heating speed. For precision and complex workpieces, slow heating, preheating and other balanced heating methods can be used to reduce heat treatment deformation of the workpiece.

4. The structure design of the workpiece should be reasonable, the thickness should not be too different, and the shape should be symmetrical. For workpieces with large dry deformation, the deformation rules should be mastered and a machining allowance should be reserved. For large, dense, and complex workpieces, a combined structure can be used.

5. On the premise of ensuring the hardness of the workpiece, try to use pre-cooling, graded cooling quenching or isothermal quenching processes.

6. For precision and complex workpieces, if conditions permit, try to use induction heating quenching and cryogenic treatment after quenching.

7. When repairing defects such as pores and wear in the workpiece, use repair equipment with small thermal impact such as cold welding machines to avoid deformation during the repair process.

8. For some precision and complex molds, pre-heat treatment, aging heat treatment, and quenching and tempering heat treatment can be used to control the accuracy of the workpiece.

In addition, correct heat treatment process operation and reasonable tempering heat treatment process are also effective measures to reduce the deformation of precision and complex workpieces.
